We are delighted to introduce Mr. Ryan as the new principal of our Al Mansoura Campus. This year marks an exciting chapter for our school community as we welcome him into this important leadership role.
To help our parents and families get to know him better, we asked a few questions about his journey, vision, and passion for education. His answers give us a wonderful insight into his values and commitment to our school.
Having been part of PSI’s growth for several years, how does it feel now to be leading one of our campuses as Principal?
I joined PSI after relocating from the UK in 2018 and have witnessed significant growth and development in what the school offers during my time here. Having served as a member of the leadership team for over three years, I am now excited to step into the role of Principal. This feels like a natural progression, given my long-standing commitment to the school and the range of leadership roles I have undertaken, which have provided me with valuable insight across safeguarding, pastoral care, and academics. I hold a deep sense of care for our staff, students, and wider school community, and I look forward to continuing to enhance their experience at PSI and supporting them in achieving their goals and further establishing the school as a place where people feel valued and inspired to be.
What experiences have shaped your leadership style and vision for the school?
Having worked and built strong relationships with many of the staff, families and students over my years here, my leadership style is one that encourages everybody pulling together and supporting one another. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience with the school and I put that down to the fact that our school community feels like a family. My vision for the school is to foster and build upon the strong relationships and community that we already have to create strong links between the school and home to give our students the best chance of succeeding and reaching their full potential. Of course, this all begins with a mutual respect and an understanding that we are all striving towards the same objectives. Together, we will all achieve more.
How do you see your role in strengthening the connection between teachers, students, and parents?
As principal, I see communication as key to building strong, trusting relationships across the school community. I will prioritise clear, consistent communication channels and create regular opportunities for dialogue, such as parent workshops, coffee mornings, and collaboration with the PTA. I believe in being approachable and visible, and I’d actively seek parent and community feedback through surveys and events, using that input to inform school decisions. By building those partnerships and keeping families engaged in school life, we can better support our students both academically and personally.
What goals or initiatives are you most eager to focus on this academic year?
This academic year, I am particularly focused on three key priorities. First, I intend to embed the use of learner profiles throughout the school, ensuring they are central to our teaching and learning practices. This will support students in developing the skills, attitudes, and attributes that prepare them not only for academic success but also for life beyond the classroom.
Second, I am committed to strengthening student attendance. Regular attendance is fundamental to learning, and I will work closely with staff, parents, and students to implement effective strategies that promote consistency and reduce barriers to attendance.
Finally, I am eager to build stronger links with the wider community. A school thrives when it is well connected, and I believe that by developing meaningful partnerships with parents, local organisations, and the wider community, we can enrich the educational experience and foster a greater sense of belonging and shared purpose.
