As School Director of PSI and Principal of our Al Mansoura Campus, Mr. Clive Shepherd brings valuable leadership experience from both Al Mansoura and Al Gharrafa. In this Principal Profile, he shares his connection with the PSI community, his approach to leading across two campuses, and his vision for the continued development of the school.
1. Can you tell us about your journey with Pearling Season International School and how your experience across both campuses has shaped you as a leader?
My journey with Pearling Season International School (PSI) has been deeply rewarding. Working across both the Al Mansoura and Al Gharrafa campuses has privileged me with invaluable experience in both communities. It has highlighted that what works for one campus requires thoughtful adaptation for the other. Ultimately, engaging closely with both student and staff bodies has reinforced for me that true servant leadership relies on active listening, high visibility, and genuine accessibility.
2. How do your responsibilities as School Director and Principal complement each other, and how will you encourage collaboration across both campuses while respecting the distinctive character of each school community?
The School Director and Principal roles work hand in hand. The Director role drives the long-term vision and resource planning, while the Principal role promotes immediate teaching standards, exceptional student care, and a warm community culture. To encourage collaboration across both campuses while respecting the distinctive character of each, we will continue to run cross-campus professional development, joint curriculum planning, and shared student events. While aligning overall educational standards, we ensure that each campus preserves its own local traditions, unique student initiatives, and distinct community feel.
3. What values and principles guide your approach to school leadership, and what do you hope every student will experience during their time at PSI?
My approach to school leadership is reflected in PSI values of Respect, Integrity, Care, and Cooperation. I believe leading by example, maintaining open communication with families, and building a supportive environment where staff feel empowered. Every student at PSI should experience a challenging, well-rounded British curriculum that motivates them to reach their full academic potential. Beyond academics, we want our students to build resilience, social skills, and global awareness through rich extracurricular activities and real-world experiences.
4. What is your vision for the continued growth and development of Pearling Season International School?
The long-term vision focuses on reinforcing Pearling Season International Schools as a premier institution for international education in Qatar—standing as number one for both academics and student care. Our aim is to empower every student and staff member, with the tools needed to achieve the highest standards. To accomplish this, we will continuously upgrade our Cambridge and Edexcel curriculum frameworks to deliver top-tier exam performance. Crucially, this journey starts in EYFS and builds steadily through primary, ensuring our educational standards are world-class and leading-edge from day one. Finally, we will strengthen the vital connection between home and school by focusing on highly efficient communication and prioritising active community engagement.
