Pearling Season International School Welcomes Ms. Lynsey as New Principal at Al Gharrafa Campus

We are delighted to introduce Ms. Lynsey as the new principal of our Al Gharrafa Campus. This year marks an exciting chapter for our school community as we welcome her into this important leadership role.

To help our parents and families get to know her better, we asked a few questions about her journey, vision, and passion for education. Her answers give us a wonderful insight into her values and commitment to our school.

Can you tell us a little about your journey with Pearling Season International School and what led you to the role of Principal?

I have been with PSI since its inception in August 2021, which has given me a deep understanding of its vision, values, and community. Throughout this time, I have worked closely with our sister campus, which opened in 2014, gaining valuable experience and insights into the foundational elements of successful school leadership. At the start of our school, I played an instrumental role in setting up the basic structure and framework, collaborating closely with all heads of sections to learn about each aspect of the school—from academics to pastoral care and operations. This hands-on involvement allowed me to develop a well-rounded perspective and build strong relationships across the school community. Taking on the role of Principal feels like a natural next step in my journey. I am passionate about continuing to nurture our school’s growth and ensuring every student receives the best possible education and support.

You have played a key role in safeguarding across the school. How has this responsibility influenced your leadership?

Having served as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the past four years and led within Primary and EYFS, safeguarding has deeply shaped my approach to leadership. It has reinforced my commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every student feels protected and valued. This responsibility has made me highly attentive to the well-being of our students and the importance of proactive communication and collaboration among staff, parents, and students. It has also emphasized the significance of clear policies, regular training, and a culture of vigilance throughout the school community. As Principal, this safeguarding perspective influences my leadership by ensuring that student safety remains at the forefront of all decision-making. It drives me to foster a school culture where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and where we continuously reflect and improve our practices to provide the safest possible environment for learning and growth.

How do you see your role in strengthening the connection between teachers, students, and parents?

My role in strengthening the connection between teachers, students, and parents centers on fostering open, consistent, and meaningful communication. Research consistently shows that strong home-school partnerships significantly boost student achievement and well-being.

As Joyce Epstein, a leading scholar in this field, states, “When schools, families, and communities work together to support learning, children tend to succeed not just in school, but throughout life.”

To build these vital connections, I prioritize creating multiple communication channels—regular updates, parent workshops, and opportunities for dialogue—ensuring that all voices are heard and valued. Effective communication nurtures trust and collaboration, which are essential for a thriving school community. By championing transparency and engagement, I aim to empower teachers with the support they need, students with a sense of belonging, and parents with the confidence to actively participate in their children’s educational journey.

As researcher Karen Mapp highlights, “Parent engagement is not just a program; it’s an ongoing relationship that drives student success.”

In short, my role is to be a bridge—connecting all stakeholders through purposeful communication to create a unified, supportive environment where every student can flourish.

What goals or initiatives are you most eager to focus on this academic year?

This year, I’m excited to focus on key goals that support our mission to empower students to embrace learning and achieve their best. We’re developing a strong culture around our Learner Profiles, promoting intellectual, emotional, social, and physical wellness from EYFS through to KS4 & 5. Enhancing student leadership and increasing parental involvement through workshops and better communication are top priorities. Academically, we’re strengthening Literacy throughout the school and strengthening delivery of teaching and learning further. We also aim to improve attendance, targeting 90%, knowing it’s vital for student success. Lastly, we want to raise the profile of global citizenship, helping students grow as responsible global citizens. These initiatives reflect our commitment to inspiring achievement and well-being for all students.

We thank Ms. Lynsey for sharing her insights and look forward to the exciting journey ahead under her leadership. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome to her new role at Pearling Season International School!
