Helping Every Child Feel Safe, Supported and Ready to Shine.

At Pearling Season International School (PSI), pastoral care is much more than a system — it’s the way we nurture, guide, and celebrate every child entrusted to us. Our aim is simple: to make sure students feel safe, valued, and supported so they can grow with confidence, curiosity, and joy.

Our approach is rooted in our school’s core values — Respect, Care, Cooperation, Integrity, and Responsibility — and our Learner Profiles, which encourage children to be Aspirational, Inquisitive, Healthy, Connected, Growth Mindset thinkers and Lifelong Learners. These values help shape a warm, positive, and welcoming environment for all.

We are committed to kindness, fairness and inclusion, and we take a zero‑tolerance approach to bullying, discrimination, and any behaviour that harms others.

Our Pastoral Vision

  • Staff build strong, caring relationships with pupils and families.
  • Behaviour expectations are clear, consistent, and supportive.
  • We notice early when students need help and respond quickly.
  • Wellbeing, resilience and emotional understanding are woven into daily school life.

Attendance & Punctuality

Being in school every day helps children grow socially, emotionally and academically. We encourage every student to aim for excellent attendance.

School begins at 7:40am — arriving on time builds calm, confident routines.
Absences should be reported before 6:50am.
Doctor’s notes may be required for longer medical absences.
We follow a clear, supportive staged response to persistent absence.
Good attendance is celebrated across the school.

Student Leadership & Voice

We encourage students to take pride in their school and make a positive difference. Leadership opportunities include Prefects, House Captains, School Council, Library Leaders, Anti‑Bullying Ambassadors, Head Students and MUN Ambassadors.

Wellbeing & Emotional Support

We offer a range of wellbeing support including 1:1 counselling, mentoring, early help meetings and emotional literacy activities. Students are encouraged to share their feelings, and no worry is ever too small.

Working Together With Parents

Parents are our partners. We maintain open communication and work together to support behaviourwellbeing and attendance. We always welcome conversations. We are ‘connected’.

PSHE & Character Education

Our PSHE programme helps students develop confidence, emotional understanding, resilience and respect for others.

  • EYFS: Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
  • Primary: Weekly PSHE lessons.
  • Secondary: PSHE themes explored through assemblies and a spiral curriculum.
  • Topics include friendships, digital wellbeing, safety, decision‑making, diversity and careers.
